Delbert Kyler, 76, of Osage County, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019.
Delbert was born July 13, 1942 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Wanda Harris Kyler and Willard “Tuff” Kyler. At age 12, after the passing of his father, Delbert moved to Pawhuska with his mother and 5 younger siblings. He worked many jobs from this young age including: cow milking, theatre projectionist, paper boy and his favorite, assistant to long time Pawhuska veterinarian “Doc” Walker.
Delbert was a PHS graduate Class of 1960. He married, had 2 sons and began operating dozers for Osage Bulldozer which he subsequently purchased and eventually bought the Bartlesville landfill as well.
In 1976, Delbert married his wife Marilyn and they went on to have 2 children and acquire their dream, the -K (bar K) Ranch, southwest of Pawhuska.
When Delbert was 40 years old, he took up steer roping and he enjoyed both participating in and sponsoring ropings throughout the country. He also served a term as director of the PRCA Steer Roping Committee. Ranching and roping remained his and the entire family’s life long legacy.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Helen Kyler Brown.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Flint and Janine Kyler; Joe and Toni Kyler; Dee and Jaque Kyler. Daughter: Melanie Kyler, step-daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen and David Brooks. Brothers: Don Kyler, Floyd Kyler and Randy Kyler and sister Carrie Stump, as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Bar K Ranch, Thursday, May 16 at 1:00PM. Viewing will be on Wednesday, May 15, after 12:00 Noon, also at the ranch.
